wherein i am exhausted

I am definitely not firing on all cylinders today, and this is a what you see is what you get post. I’m sure each of these thoughts could be creatively woven with pictures and witty prose to become their very own posts, but on a morning when I didn’t even spell “their” correctly on my first attempt, we’re going to leave well enough alone. “Cylinders” was a doozie for me too.

It’s a good thing Pearl the O My Family dog doesn’t mind being called Micah. She’s been so understanding like that. She has also been tolerant of me frequently ignoring her and referring to her as a him (because apparently all of the small, cuddly things in my life are the same gender at any given time).

She’d better be tolerant, she’s the only one getting any sleep.

So, if the little guy is OBaby (I still haven’t decided if I like the apostrophe or not) and DanO is DanO (which is often what I actually call him), do I need a quintessential mommy-blog pseudonym too?

How about President OMama?

I think that has a nice ring to it, no? Well, a nice ring and maybe some associations I’d rather not make.

Ahem.

No, I think I’ll stick with Allison, with a little AllisonO from time to time for clarification. Meanwhile I’ll endearingly refer to DanO the ManO and this little OBaby Boy with any adorable pet names that come to mind.

Speaking of politics, I’m fairly certain that during his wakeful period this morning, OBaby came up with a way to solve the economic crisis in a way that didn’t break campaign promises. At least, that’s what his face looked like. Guess we’ll have to wait until the language acquisition stage to see how he dealt with those tricky health care benefit taxes.

Blessings I was given yesterday:

I got to watch DanO give our son his very first at-home bath.

Some of us enjoyed that more than others.

I very narrowly avoided crying when a friend offered to do a load of OBaby’s laundry so that he could have a clean zip-up to wear to his very first doctor’s appointment today.

Without having to prepare it, DanO and I ate yet another fabulous meal for dinner, made with love by OBaby’s GrandmaO.

I took a shower, shaved my (reachable and not swollen!) legs, and dried my hair while DanO loved on Micah.

I don’t think I adequately expressed that. You guys. I shaved. My legs.

Love the bath picture!! Micah’s learning to express his true feelings right off the bat. Perf. : )

And you shaved. Could life be better? Well, other than sleep….

  2. The first shower after childbirth is the closest thing to heaven I can imagine.

The exhaustion is normal. Example: My youngest is 18 months, and I just had to sound out “ex-hast-ion.”

I hear it gets better. Someday.

  3. Glad you got a good shave in! ;)

Yippe for the ability to shave again!
you could be AlliO. or MamaO.

Ahh, and to think soon I won’t be able to reach my legs to shave. Well I guess life goes on. Pregnancy changes everything or so you think, until the baby arrives and the real change comes. Looks like you guys are doing well!
