you capture

I found a new blog. It is called folding laundry. It made me cry last night when I read the author Beth’s post about aching for the loss of her two little boys. I instantly went in and snuggled OBaby.

This is why I love the blogging community. Someone can share something and it could make me laugh, make me think, make me disagree, make me cry, or make me feel a greater love for O My Family. Thank you, Beth.

And other times, it makes me take pictures. Like when Folding Laundry does a “You Capture”¬† blog carnival and challenges readers to take an interesting photograph of food.

5 years ago when I met DanO (It’s our dating anniversary, btw. Do people celebrate that? Maybe people who don’t have a 6 week old baby?) he was a sushi virgin. What? A meat-and-potatoes-raised Midwestern man, never known the joys of a spicy shrimp tempura?!

The audacity.

It took some effort, but I got him to take me on a sushi date not once (he HATED it), not twice (still “not worth his money”), but THREE TIMES (“there was that one roll that was pretty good”). Soon, I had a sushi connoisseur sharing my bed. O and did I mention? DanO likes to do everything himself. (Something about an unfinished laundry room?) Not long after he gave in to the ways of the masasgo we started to make our own sushi at home.

And then, the icing on the cake: a few weeks ago I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and I’m sure you’ll never guess what he said.

“Sushi.”

Funny, I remember someone once telling me ‘You shouldn’t try to change your spouse.’

Whoops.

  1. Oh my gosh. GREAT story! Great picture. And now, I simply must have sushi for supper : ). I have been wanting to try to make it myself. What do you think of it? Have you enjoyed that? And most importantly, is it good? : )

Mmmmm. I want that. (I totally celebrate our dating anniversary. Jason does too, by rolling his eyes.)

I (we) totally celebrate our dating anniversary – as it started at the State Fair, so it’s tradition to go at some point to celebrate. :-)

Nice sushi shot. If Dan can come to like it, I’m sure I could too if I tried it.

Beautiful shot! My husband always wants homemade mac n cheese for his birthday. At least your hubby has a more refined pallet. :P
