my own economic stimulus

I’m feeling slightly shallow today. Here’s why:

6a00c2251d8097f2190109811a6d55000c-500pi-2Meet my new Mac.

It all started one sunny Friday evening when OBaby was napping and I had just published a quick little 200th post. I closed my laptop and set it on the coffee table as usual. Before we left to go visit with O My In-Laws, DanO wanted to check his email really quick. And then, the noise. When it should have come out of hibernate, my computer made no movement to start up, but instead uttered a loud, ominous beeping which I immediately took to mean “You’re screwed.”

I was right.

DanO almost cursed, and then after spending time with OBrother opening up the computer, examining the RAM, voiding long expired warranties and such, they discovered that it was the video card that went awry. I’ve been informed that this means you have to get a whole new motherboard.

Whatever that is.

Anyway, a new computer had been on our “in the next 3 months” shopping list and then whoosh, justlikethat it was on our “in the next 3 days” list.

Fast forward through 24 hours of deliberation, internet research and searching our hearts for our true motivations, et voila, we were standing in front of the shiny white facade of the Mac Emporium Saturday evening.

While DanO could go on about this laptop’s technical specs and how having this computer will lower the number of “HONEY? HOW DO I…” he hears a day (what with it’s user friendliness and all), I, on the other hand, pretty much just wanted it because it is SA-WEET looking.¬† Therefore, I would like you to consider the extreme embarrassment I felt upon exiting the Apple Store in the largest mall in America carrying my new overpriced-because-it’s-sweet-looking laptop.

I think I need to go take a shower and wash off all this consumerism.

So cute! You must be loving it. I really feel like a macbook is the trophy of the true blogger. Congratulations, this must mean you’ve made it:)
( I type this from my tiny acer netbook. I am an inferior blogger)

    OOooh, congrats!
I can so relate. We frequent the apple store far too often. I can’t help but drool a bit. I’ve started to covet an iMac. Afterall, an illustrator surely shouldn’t be using a pc, right? And my pc is ten years old and starting to give me fits. Now I’ve started justifying the purchase — how many hours I waste waiting for my computer to compute and open and save my Photoshop files. Time is money after all, right? But then reality hits — money is money and we’re unemployed. Bummer. =)

    you won’t regret it.

Don’t feel bad. I adore my Macbook (just like yours) and my 24″ iMac. I used to scorn the macness…now I would never use anything else. I’ve become a Mac snob. Oops. Oh well, I’ll just keep enjoying my trouble-free computers.

Talking about nasty computer noises, for the past few days my computer has been making a nasty ridiculously loud scraping of metal on metal noise whenever I slightly move or bump it. And I’m not talking about a noise through this speakers, this is actually coming from the hardware inside the computer. What the hell?!?! And my computer has been making ominous beeping noises since oh a couple months ago! :) You newbie.
