Way back in October I remembered hearing about the Christmas tour of homes hosted by The Nester, but by the time I had successfully decorated my house for Christmas while holding a squirming baby on my hip and having to stop to breastfeed after hanging every third ornament, I was too dang excited not to publish this post ASAP with pictures of our sparkling tree.
Whoops. Kinda ruined the surprise.
So hey, guess what! It’s O My Christmas revisited. Only it’s cooler this time because it’s linked up and whatnot. Plus there are new, cooler, excitinger pictures. Just you wait.

Our mantle is now complete with the stockings from Pottery Barn (thanks to advice from my tweeps!). I was looking for ones that are classic and that I could order more of in the coming years, should we, you know, hypothetically, maybe, think about potentially, ever trying to have more children.
Which would be some time very, very far in the future.
After I’ve slept more than 4 consecutive hours.

(This is the part of the tour where you pretend you don’t see the leg of that baby jumper in the bottom corner of the picture.)
(Thank you kindly.)

DanO and I had the “Do the parents’ stockings belong next to each other or do they sandwich the children(s)’?” debate when we hung them (with care?) at like 12:30am a few nights ago.
I won. Except sometimes I will come into the room and find them rearranged.

More vinyl wall decor we made with my birthday present (mentioned here). Suddenly words are popping up on surfaces all over my home. It’s awesome.
BTW, “Mom” is the name on my stocking. When will that stop blowing my mind? Man O man.

The Olfelt family pickle ornament. Because, why not hang a pickle on your tree?
Actually it’s a German tradition where the pickle is hidden somewhere on the tree by Father Christmas and the child who finds it first on Christmas morning receives a special gift.
This year is kind of a shoe-in.

The wreath I got a few questions about on the first Christmas decor post. It’s from HomeGoods, and if you look closely, there’s a dent in one of the ornaments (hint: it’s green). That totally saved me $12 off of the sticker price. I love bargaining on ‘damaged’ merch at HomeGoods.
It wouldn’t be an O My Family home tour if I didn’t point out all the imperfections, now would it? But hey! It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful! (Get it? GET IT?!)

Uhm, welp, that’s pretty much the end folks. No fancy tutorials on how to make gorgeous DIY Christmas decorations, no shots of spectacular holiday-themed room overhauls, and definitely nothing ridiculously amazing or creative.
Just a simple, cozy home with everyday Christmas decorations and a reminder written on our wall of what it’s really all about.

Amen.

I just want to curl up and hang out with you in your home. Ok?
Steph
I’m getting ready to place my order with you for vinyl letters ;) (talk about Etsy lady, you could do a great business!! And they’re Santa’s on my shelf… haha!)
Gorgeous decorations!
Gorgeous! I love that wreath SO MUCH and even more now knowing that you got a good deal on it. And your stockins are wonderful “Mom!” ;-)
Your home is lovely and all your decor is beautiful! Great job decorating! Merry Christmas!
so lemme get this straight: you made those vinyl wall thingys with that fancy machine that looks super scary and intimidating and i don’t even really understand what it is to be honest? because, seriously, i want to do that.
pretty decor!
LOVE,LOVE, LOVE all the decorations! and, i am so jealous over the vinyl lettering. maybe santa will bring me a cricut cutter. i’ve been good!
Those letters are perfect. I actually had no idea you could do that with a Cricut, too.
Love the letters on the wall!!!
Your mantle is adorable! And I LOVE your wall decals– do you sell them??????
your house should be in a magazine! seriously! i’m jealous.
I love the wall lettering! It looks soo good:) My hubby said I couldn’t have one of those cutter things unless I was deciding to start scrapbooking… well I’m not into scrapbooking so he said no to the cutter. I may need to show him this post and how much money he will save on christmas decorations if I had a cutter thing! :)
Everything looks wonderful! Great job decorating. We have always done the pickle tradition, too!
O good, finally someone mentions that they also did the pickle tradition. I was beginning to feel a little out there. DanO thought I was crazy when we were first dating because of the pickle in the tree (among other things).
The pickle tradition is totally a new one for me. We aren’t doing Christmas trees in the future, but I’m sure my husband wouldn’t mind having a pickle ornament just to have one. He loves pickles.
And your vinyl lettering is amazing!
Love your decorations and now I want a cricut Cutter. Thanks for having us!
Kay
Never knew I wanted a Cricut. But apparently I do. Super jealous over here.
beautiful. Just beautiful.
And you did all that with a newborn? YOu go girl!
Merry Christmas!
I love your style, girl. Everything about it.
I love all of the vinyl lettering, gorgeous absolutely gorgeous.
I love your Joy to the world quote!! What cartridge did you use to cut it out? Beautiful!
Beautiful home!
Thanks for showing us around. Come by and visit me anytime. Merry Christmas!
