I think it’s time I get this off my chest. I committed a crime at Cupcake ’10.
I stole a cupcake for a boy.

It went like this:
Saturday night I was rounding up my things because DanO was almost there to pick us up and bring us back to the hotel. He came in and helped me transfer OBaby into the car (You probably heard us. That screaming at 11:00pm? That was my sleeping baby being ripped from the sweet snuggles of his baby carrier and placed into the cold, torturous warm, fleece-covered arms of his car seat).
I ran back in to give the borrowed baby carrier back, and there they were. Just sitting there by the dozen in the great room of the house all by themselves: the cupcakes. So lonely. No one there to eat them.
I looked over my shoulder toward the kitchen. Too much giggling and white sangria drinking going on for anyone to notice, so I snagged a chocolate one and booked it toward the door.
It was for DanO who totally deserved it, having driven to Madison Freaking Wisconsin for the weekend just so I wouldn’t have to go it alone with OBaby.
I set it on the seat next to me in the car and went about holding OBaby’s hands and binkie to help him sleep for the rest of the drive to the hotel.
I completely forgot about the cupcake until I was taking my jeans off that night and found a sticky brown goo on my hand.
I totally sat on it.
Serves me right for trying to take one of the amazing, sacred cupcakes meant for the blogging ladies to a BOY. Lesson learned.
~~~~~~
The amazing, sacred cupcakes served at Cupcake ’10 were from the Daisy Cafe and Cupcakery. They are delicious and made with all natural ingredients, so if you live in Madison Freaking Wisconsin (or nearby) I suggest you check them out.
Just don’t sit on them.
We’ll let it go… THIS TIME! But for Cupcake ’11, I’m watching you girl!
You mean CUPCREPE ’11! :)
Awww. :( Did DanO ever get a replacement?
laughing out loud!!! My hubby sat on a cupcake on new years eve! I love it.
lol Wish I could check them out. You are too funny. Blessings!
How funny– totally something I would have done. I am constantly setting things down and forgetting– mommy brain, much?
Ha! Love it!
Oh dear…too funny! I think your hubby totally deserved it – how sweet of him to drive with you!
I think DanO totally deserved it! Unfortunately if I were you, I would have taken two…one for myself and one for my hubby:)
You are just the cutest thing, you know it? Sorry DanO didn’t get to try it!
If DanO didn’t drive down to Madison Freaking Wisconsin he couldn’t have gone to Applebees with my husband, and experience the most Annoying Freaking Waitress. He would have missed it!
I just stumbled across your blog last week during a slow work week (shhh….don’t tell the boss) and I think you are amazing. Adorable baby & cupcakes galore included.
they look so good!!! i am from wisconsin :) lived there for 18 years. im mostly from janesville, live in missouri now, but do you know it? how neat to meet other wisconsinites!!!
HIlarious! I’ve sat on many a thing in my day. And driven away with many a drink on the roof of my car. Mothering can be a distracting job. =)
You are too funny! :) And what a good hubby to go along for the ride!
I think there’s a Proverb that says: Be sure your sins will get squashed on your jeans.
Or something like that.
Oh, well, I don’t feel so bad about stealing wine now do I? Just kidding! But (as long as we are all getting things off our chests), I did consider! :-)
Next time you go as far as Madison Freaking Wisconsin, go an extra hour and visit all your cousins in Milwaukee Freaking Wisconsin. We’ll find places for you to sleep. :-)
LOL
Poor DanO, and poor cupcake! And poor me, who didn’t manage to attend Cupcake10 because, well, I’m quite on the wrong side of the pond right now.
But like you I have an appreciation for lovely husbands who humor their blog-obsessed wives… maybe we can make them honorary girls once in a while? Just so they can have a cupcake ;-)
Laughing. So hard. Out loud.
You bandit, you.
He totally deserved it! Unless you took the last raspberry one. Just kidding, but, goodness, those in particular were little tastes of cupcakey heaven.
i’m assuming that the particular nuance of “freaking” you made liberal use of in this post (see “madison freaking wisconsin”) is that of “indescribably awesome.” because it is. if you’re ever in the area again and want to know what you simply *must* do/see/eat, i’d be happy to share my take on this fine city. =)
If you’re ever in Madison again, try Bloom Bakery in Middleton (western suburb, but still inside the Beltline). They make delicious, locally grown product-based, organic goodies too. We got my son’s cupcake there for his birthday, and they were deeeeeee-licious!
