It took our Elizabeth a couple of months to start liking solids (at first she just cried – it was so sad. She was excited to try this food stuff and then didn’t LIKE it). Even now she still isn’t too fond of mush and pretty much won’t eat anything that looks like baby food (even applesauce, although she’ll eat my rice cereal). Give her pieces of cheese or bread, pasta or cheerios and she’ll shovel it in though. She also wasn’t fond of the rice at first either but now seems to like picking the bits off her fingers.

They say it takes up to 20 times of offering a food before a food preference is established, which I found to be a very helpful piece of advice. We also found the Baby Einstein Parent / Child spoon set helpful (one to play with, one to help with shovelling in the food) and we feed her a lot of finger food because some days she will not swallow anything unless she’s put the food in herself.
