and maybe that’s a good thing.

I want time.

I want to be grumpy about how much OBaby’s motor development has messed with our sleep.

I want a moment to ponder the family funeral we went to yesterday and think about the kind of person I want to be when I leave this world.

I want to lay down and take a nap.

I want to have time to myself with no responsibilities or expectations or child tugging at my pants wanting up.

I want to stomp my foot and say that it’s not fair.

I want to take a shower.

I want to complain about nothing and everything and about how I’ve been in a funk lately and that even though it’s sunny I just can’t kick it.

I want this loud, disruptive project to be done taking over my front yard and messing with nap times.

But I can’t, because right now I need to go outside and help my husband and Father-in-law build forms for pouring our new walkway this afternoon.

And maybe that’s a good thing.

You know what? I say… go for it! Mom’s can be tired and cranky sometimes too.

AH! What Michelle Said! What Michelle Said!

If we lived closer, I would bring you coffee. Or a margarita. Or ice cream. And a big ‘ole hug.

  3. You deserve all those things. Look at your post for yesterday, it will make you feel better.

I’m also in a funk…just frazzled lately. Momma’s have the hardest jobs and we are too hard on ourselves. I’m trying to be nicer to myself. You are a great Mommy and you’ll get out of your funk soon! I think a funk is like a good cry…just necessary every once in a while.

I look forward to reading your post everyday (seriously u r my FAVORITE!) and you are such a good friend (that I haven’t met yet.) You have such a beautiful way about you that warms my heart. I’m also in a funk lately. I think we moms just put too much on our plate and set such high and lofty expectations. Perhaps an evening to yourself? With a friend, or just in prayer and a nice bath would help? Or, screaming out loud in your back yard at the top of your lungs? (just throwing out some suggestions…lol) We all go through it, just know you are loved and you there is light at the end…

    Oh gosh. I’m with you!

Put it this way: our 18 month old has decided that IF she’s going to take a nap (which has only been 3 or 4 times in 2 weeks), it’s only going to last for 30 minutes. *sigh*

I know how you feel, when you’re all whiny and you don’t wanna but you know that the distraction is probably the only way to push through the crappy time. Love to you – it’ll pass eventually.

Oh, for the time to take a nap! But at least the concrete will be entertaining for a while, right?

Oh Allison, I feel ya. My funk is due to being out in a town that I did not want to move to and insanely want to leave like today if I could.

I second you on needing a nap and having no responsibility just myself form time to time. Sometimes 10 minutes would do me soo much good.

  14. Sometimes you have to give into that nap. But other times, we have to grin and bear it. You know this is why all old people do is sleep, right? We will sleep when we are old and are kids are all grown.

All mommies go through these funks! I’ve woken up once or twice, rolled over and announced “I don’t feel like playing house today, can’t I sleep all day instead?”
