It’s been slow going in the food department so far, but that is more than okay. The banana was a (squishy) no-go, the peas didn’t even make it near the mouth, and the peach was spit back out for the most part.
The rice pretty much went like this:
{shudder}
{What the crap was that?!}
What can I say, the kid is partial to his breast milk.
have you tried mango? we discovered pureed mango baby food in the organic stuff Gerber makes, Lucy instantly gobbled it down.
She is still a total mango hog.
Love the rice picture, such a sweet little face so covered in disgust!
i LOVE these pictures! at least it gives him something new to do! is Pearl enjoying picking up after him?
So cute!
HA!! that’s really, really cute.. esp the last pic!
the look on his face is classic! great pictures!
My kids never liked baby food. They pretty much went straight to the real stuff, and even that didn’t get popular until 9-12 months. Breast milk is apparently addictive.
My kids did not like baby food one bit. I have many faces like that from them. I have seen new organic baby food and my friends baby love’s it and can’t get enough. I also have heard try the veggies first once they have the sweet stuff they dont want anything else, but what do I know my kids are 7 and 9 and even the small 21 1/2 month gap between them things had changed so much I can’t even imagine 7 years later.
hilarious! but what a precious disgusted face.
What about sweet potatoes? I cube them reallllly reallly small like the size of peas then boil them, drain them and then Miles eats them that way.
They are aquishy like bananas though….
Haha, LOVE the faces he made!
Piper LOVES spaghetti and has no use at all for the sticky stuff like rice. It totally freaks her out. She also freaks about icing (birthday fun!) I think because it stick to her hand.
Take pics when you try spaghetti and possibly the video. Soooo entertaining.
Also, a second vote for mango, P loves it pureed or cubed but I make it myself.
He’s just so cute!!!
ha.. I love the pictures! Some of those faces are priceless!!
The last picture is the best! : )
I laughed so loud at that last photo… it’s as if he’s saying “let’s just skip to the pizza mom!”
So sweet! Having a son who ate anything, it’s fun to see a child actually taste their food and decide if they like it or not!
Wait till he learns about taxes!
That face!!!! Oh that face :)
Cute! We get a lot of the shudder face around here when eating too!
You have a beautiful son!
CUTIE PIE!!!! : )
Peanut is 10 months old and still just gets covered in the rice. I do a weekly post on Baby-led Weaning on my blog if you’re interested.
Whether the baby loves the food or hates it, you just can’t beat the expressions when they try something for the first time. It just blows their little minds. Too cute!
Ha Ha! My little guy who is now 11 mos HATES rice. He eagerly let us feed it to him and then was quickly scraping it off his tongue as he spit ever last piece out. I love how excited they are to eat and then how quickly the excitement goes away…funny!
Adorable! My little guy took about a week to decide that food was not totally disgusting. Now I can’t give him enough. But, those faces are totally worth giving them new foods. ;)
LOL! He doesn’t look amused!
That child is too cute to stand! I love that little face!
Your baby is adorable…saw some of your pics on blogs of the Cupcakes I normally read and thought I would say hello! SO glad you got to go….I’m jealous, looked like a great time!
Babies are so funny when trying out food for the first time!
It took our Elizabeth a couple of months to start liking solids (at first she just cried – it was so sad. She was excited to try this food stuff and then didn’t LIKE it). Even now she still isn’t too fond of mush and pretty much won’t eat anything that looks like baby food (even applesauce, although she’ll eat my rice cereal). Give her pieces of cheese or bread, pasta or cheerios and she’ll shovel it in though. She also wasn’t fond of the rice at first either but now seems to like picking the bits off her fingers.
They say it takes up to 20 times of offering a food before a food preference is established, which I found to be a very helpful piece of advice. We also found the Baby Einstein Parent / Child spoon set helpful (one to play with, one to help with shovelling in the food) and we feed her a lot of finger food because some days she will not swallow anything unless she’s put the food in herself.
Invest in a good bib that you can wipe off at the end of a meal! Things only get more exciting in the food department now. It amazed me how we went from mush to birthday cake on Seth’s 1st birthday. Somehow it all comes together with a little patience and a dose of ingenuity.
When can I come see you?!
